Richard has 35 years of experience in the space, defence and maritime sectors as an engineer, naval officer and business leader. Over this time, he has been involved in maritime operational activities, satellite technology development and business development initiatives.

Richard led the team that developed and launched dedicated maritime monitoring satellites resulting in the stand up of exactEarth.

In 2018, Richard established GSTS to develop new solutions for the maritime security and logistics sectors enabled by rapid advances in satellite, sensor and Artificial Intelligence technologies. The company has over 50 staff in Canada and Europe and continues to expand in size and capability through collaboration with industry, academia and civil and defence agencies.
